Where Fiji Friends from all over the world meet.
So here I am in this big land called Australia, in a very large city called Melbourne. What I have seen has been great. The city with its tall buildings, sports arenas, theatres for all tastes, food that is cheap and plentiful, work that pays really well, houses that are affordable, access to all types of things, universities everywhere, people that are friendly once they know you, and the ability to travel to other cities. It is really a land of plenty.
I must return very very soon to my home, Tonga. I thought I would never feel this way but I am getting the feeling that I kind of like it here. I can see now why many Pacific Islanders leave the home islands for bigger lands. It's easy living. It's easy access to food. I have money in my pocket that I don't spend and don't waste, Internet! Sky Foxtel! Shopping Malls bigger than some of the villages!
I will go home because that's my home in Tonga. But if the opportunity comes, I wonder to myself if I would stay.
What would you do MFF?
Let me know your thoughts. Ofa'atu to all replies.

Comment by ღ Nookie ღ on March 7, 2012 at 9:42pm Yea I'ld Stay Too Because You Know You Can Experience Alot More :) Aussie The Land Of Opportunity and There Are Loads Of Opportunity's here in Australia, Did You Find It Hard at First To Adapt To Life Down Under? May I Ask? What Brought You Here In The First Place?

Comment by Kaline on February 4, 2012 at 11:02pm What a conundrum for you Sione. We'd wish for you to stay in Australia, if the opportunity arose. There always seems to be a lot of lack when you'd divulged life in the islands. Given you're no spendthrift or feel the lure of materialistic things, Tonga for you sounded like a struggle - to have survived each day was a trial in itself. Australia as you'd communicated via your blog articles seemed fresh, new and hardy.
Here's a thing, if you were to go back to the islands - Yes you have your farm; Yes you have your dog and cat; Yes you have your beaches, BUT every cent you make isn't guaranteed, at least that is as we understand it to be. In Australia, your sweat is guaranteed a salary. It is not a matter of whether you sell your crops or not. You get paid. You have good people for friends, and you're less lonely out there - at least you sound less alone.
So we vote (2 votes lol) - "Stay in Australia!" Job opportunities are looking up and you're not opposed to doing sweat-labour.
