If we are thinking about visiting Fiji, would you all recommend picking up some form of International Travel Medical Insurance? We already have Health Insurance, but Multivariate Testing has revealed that local health insurance is not honored all over the world. What do you guys know about this dynamic in Fiji? Any tips or advice welcome.

Comment by Kaline on January 29, 2010 at 2:15am: Fiji's private doctors don't mind dealing with foreign insurance companies and our hospitals and healthcare centers aren't like the American facilities, where they'd request verification of coverage prior to treatment.

Fiji's heathcare personnel and service is more directed towards, caring for the patient, before enquiring after payment.

We'll recommend Blue Cross Blue Shield medical insurance coverage. Please contact Colonial Insurance Fiji for verification, for they acquired former Blue Shields Insurance Fiji.

The ONLY option you have for now before leaving for Fiji's shores is to verify with your insurance carrier if you are able to use their health insurance plan in Fiji. At the end of the day - they'll be paying.
