Hi ya Jiji.  Long time.  Just noticed your thread.  Sorry gang :) :)

In our house for our former late Dad - he was the only grog-drinker lol   The day after, is always a brunch menu for him - not because he was a late riser, but because it followed our family am marketing.  The menu would usually be, pan-fried or grilled steak.  Basically, browned in the pan, then finished-off in the oven with onions and tomatoes and capsicum.  Always was accompanied with basic boiled dalo or ba via - if available.  The vavai was always preferred too.  If he'd eaten before the am - proper, then it would be either dry beef, mutton or goat curry with dalo or the humongous whole Lauan crabs (Fijian style) which were usually available at Sunia Cama's Cafe in the morning, for the drinkers and the after-partiers. Or he'd have his whole crabs suruwa (prepped by our Mum)  or vinegared mussels (prepped by us earlier), usually chilled in the refrigerator.  A quick pan-stir fry isn't bad either.

One of Mum's brothers' loved his noodle soup, with loads of chili and lemon.  That's his after-grog or after-beer drinking binges lol  Oh - that or roast pork leftovers.  Kind of like a sandwich meat - roast pork, preferring it cold not hot.  Always with chili and salt.  Almost like a religion for him Hahaha.  IF bok choy was available in the vegetable bin, he'd want us to throw them in, as though it would remedy his unhealthy habit haha!

Then another late maternal uncle would only have stew, with more potatoes to meat, and no coi (no rice, no dalo, nada).  And it's pan-gravy - not soy sauce gravy (the cheat gravy). Then he'd drink water religiously, like it was medicinal, chastising himself all day - that he'd had grog at all LOL

Our only brother, favoured his rotisserie chicken with kokoda with a side of ota-tips - steamed, always with his dalo-vavi, all after we'd permanently left home, when he was in his late teens. Suppose it's a Marist ritual - to go and drink with all the baracas .. Tsk tsk tsk .. Bad influence!!! If we were home,  he most certainly wouldn't have gotten near any of it - Haha!

Basically this is what I do...under the hot sun I will do something like racking or weeding our garden for at least 30 minutes than later a proper bath then eat something with hot hot chilly...and yes after that sleep again...lol
